The Oakland Planning Commission will receive an informational report on the City’s 2022 General Plan and Housing Element Annual Progress Reports (APRs), which are reports submitted to the State and to the public. The date of the meeting is May 17th.

The APRs document the progress made by the City in implementing and updating Oakland’s General Plan, meeting housing production and preservation goals, and implementing City programs and policies adopted in the 2015-2023 Housing Element. This year’s APRs also include:

  • • Progress toward updating the Housing and Safety Elements and creating a new Environmental Justice Element as part of the 2045 General Plan Update
  • • The number of housing development applications received in 2022
  • • The number of new housing units that received a planning and zoning approval (“entitlement”), building permit, or final inspection in 2022
  • • The number of housing development projects submitted, approved, permitted, or constructed under Senate Bill 35 streamlining
